Beginning in 1536, Attaingnant published thirty-six numbered chansonniers in a bewildering variety of editions and re-issues. Some were printed "en un livre," some "en un volume et en deux," and some "en deux volumes." Some carry Attaingnant's name alone on the title page, and others add that of Hubert Jullet as well. The table of surviving chansonniers (1536-1546) in HeartzA 1969, p. 74, is especially helpful in understanding how each volume relates to the various series, since it groups the chansonniers by format and by contents.
