Binding: half-calf, with marbled boards; the back repaired with cloth adhesive tape
Bookplate of Theodore M. Finney (with pencil annotation: "London (R) 1964") on paste-down of upper cover; the names "Essex" and "Lady Essex" [= ?Lady Harriet Essex?] appear elsewhere in the ms., suggesting former ownership of the vol.
A note on f.74r reads as follows: "Mr Welcker is requested to Copy / three first violins, three Sec.d violins, 2 Horns / 2 Oboes, & 2 Violoncello's of this Minuet / & send them, (as soon as poss: le) to Miss Bla [the remainer of the name lost through cropping of the outer margin] / Thursday Morn."
On a label of sanguine flyswing, tooled and stamped in gold, laid down on the upper cover: "MANUSCRIPTS"
